From lightweight plastic export pallets to hygienic models for controlled environments and heavy-duty pallets for industrial handling, each design addresses different operational requirements. Compare the main categories to identify the appropriate industrial plastic pallet for your supply chain.
Lightweight and Nestable Plastic Pallets
Lightweight plastic pallets, with nestable designs available on selected models. These configurations can reduce empty-pallet storage requirements and support certain one-way distribution operations.
International shipping, industrial distribution and freight transportation where the pallet dimensions and rated load capacity match the shipment.
Pallets made entirely from plastic are outside the scope of ISPM 15 wood packaging treatment requirements. Other import, product and destination-specific requirements must still be checked.
Hygienic Plastic Pallets for Controlled Environments
Hygienic pallet models may feature smooth, easy-to-clean surfaces and designs intended to reduce areas where dirt or moisture can accumulate.
Food processing, pharmaceutical logistics and selected cleanroom or controlled-environment operations. The exact application depends on the product specification and required hygiene protocols.
Check the material specification, cleaning compatibility and relevant hygiene requirements. A plastic pallet is not automatically HACCP-certified, food-contact approved or suitable for every cleanroom classification.
Heavy-Duty Plastic Pallets for Industrial Loads
Reinforced plastic pallet designs, with suitable runners or integrated metal reinforcements on selected models. Construction varies according to the intended loading and handling conditions.
Industrial warehousing, internal logistics, repeated handling and pallet racking when the specific model is rated for that use.
Confirm static, dynamic and racking load capacities separately. Actual performance depends on pallet construction, load distribution and operating conditions.

Industrial Plastic Pallets 1200 × 800 mm
Compare two models of industrial plastic pallets available through Flat Cargo: a lightweight recycled plastic pallet for distribution logistics and a heavy-duty food-grade pallet for demanding industrial handling applications.
Lightweight Recycled Plastic Pallet 1200 × 800 mm
The FC1145 lightweight recycled plastic pallet is designed for industrial goods handling, warehouse operations and distribution. Its 1200 × 800 mm format offers a familiar footprint for businesses managing palletised shipments across their supply chains.
Manufactured from recycled plastic according to the product specification, this pallet is an option for companies seeking an alternative to wooden shipping pallets. As a plastic pallet, it is outside the scope of ISPM 15 wood packaging treatment requirements. Load compatibility and destination-specific rules must still be checked.

Food-Grade Heavy-Duty Plastic Pallet 1200 × 800 mm
The FC1143 food-grade plastic pallet is a heavy-duty industrial pallet designed for applications requiring a robust handling and transport solution. Its 1200 × 800 mm footprint is suitable for various palletised goods and warehouse logistics operations, subject to the manufacturer's operating specifications.
This hygienic plastic pallet is marketed for food-related logistics applications and may be considered for environments with specific cleaning and handling requirements. Before ordering, buyers should confirm its material documentation, cleaning compatibility, load limits and suitability for the intended use.

Industrial Plastic Pallets: Lifespan and Total Cost of Ownership
For industrial buyers, the true cost of a pallet goes beyond its purchase price. Understanding the total cost of ownership (TCO) helps procurement teams evaluate reusable plastic pallets throughout their working life.
Why Does Plastic Pallet Lifespan Matter?
In closed-loop supply chains, reusable plastic pallets can support multiple transport and handling cycles. Their potential economic value depends on how often they are reused and how they perform under actual operating conditions.
Pallet service life varies according to material, construction, load distribution, handling frequency, impact exposure and storage conditions. Choosing the appropriate pallet specification can help purchasing teams manage replacement costs and operational requirements.

How to Calculate the Total Cost of Ownership of Plastic Pallets
Comparing pallet prices alone may overlook important operating expenses. A practical TCO assessment should consider the following five factors.
- 1 Initial purchase cost: pallet unit price and the number of units required for the operation.
- 2 Number of pallet trips: reuse frequency, completed rotations and actual service life.
- 3 Operating expenses: inspection, cleaning, maintenance, possible repairs and replacement costs.
- 4 Reverse logistics: return transportation, empty pallet storage and handling expenses.
- 5 End-of-life costs: collection, sorting and treatment, less any recoverable value.
Cost per Pallet Trip
Total Net Pallet Lifecycle Costs Total Completed Pallet TripsLower cost per completed trip may indicate a more economical solution, provided the compared pallets satisfy equivalent operational requirements.
Reusable and Recyclable Plastic Pallets
Industrial plastic pallets may be manufactured from virgin or recycled polymers, depending on the model and its technical specification. Their suitability for repeated use, repair or recycling must be assessed individually. Plastic pallet recycling depends on material composition, product condition and access to suitable collection and processing facilities.
EU PPWR and Transport Packaging Requirements
Regulation (EU) 2025/40 on packaging and packaging waste applies from 12 August 2026. From 2030, certain transport packaging operations, including those using pallets, will be subject to specific reuse requirements. Applicable obligations, conditions and exemptions depend on the operation. Material recyclability or a reusable design does not automatically establish PPWR compliance.
